The Ernest-Spencer Companies Fabrication Custom Coating Construction

Custom powder coating,
the finishing touch.

A perfect part deserves a perfect finish, both for appearance and long term protection. Ernest-Spencer maintains an advanced powder coating and finishing facility in Ottawa, Kansas to give your products the finish they deserve. Proper finishing requires thorough surface preparation, and Ernest-spencer's powder coat facility includes both automated and manual washdown and media blasting capabilities. This ensures the optimum coating adhesion for long term finish performance.

AUTOMATED POWDER COAT LINE
WITH CHEMICAL WASH

Our advanced powder coat system, following a 750' linear conveyor, starts with a 5-stage stainless steel wash process
to chemically remove laser scale and to prepare the bare metal for optimum coating adhesion. Once the powder has been
applied in the spray enclosure, the parts move through a 25 minute convection oven bake cycle for typical curing, with an
additional 5 minute infrared "boost" for heavy plate material curing.

The powder coat is applied utilizing advanced Nordsen® SureCoatTM powder guns for even coverage. The quick-change
color system allows for color changeover in minutes as the automated production line remains in motion.

Maximum Part Size: 3'x 5' x 10'
Maximum Weight Capacity: 100 lbs./foot
Utilizes zinc phosphate wash to inhibit rust
Additional Services: Masking, Thread Protection, Assembly, Packaging, Warehousing, Delivery

AUTOMATED BLAST SYSTEM

This 6-wheel automated blast system, fed by an overhead chain conveyor, utilizes steel shot media for blasting applications,
and can provide a near-white bare metal finish.

Maximum Part Size: 3' x 5' x 25'
Maximum Weight Capacity: 150 lbs./foot
Throughput Capacity: SSPC-6 @ 6' per minute; SSPC-10 @ 4' per minute
Blasting for paint removal

BATCH POWDER COAT SYSTEM

Custom fabricated items that are too large for our automated powder coat system can be expertly finished in our batch
coating process. The spray booth is equipped with Nordsen® spray equipment for optimum results. The batch curing oven
bakes the coating at up to 500 degrees for a hard, durable finish.

Maximum Part Size: 10' x 10' x 38'
Ideal for small runs and oversize pieces

BATCH BLAST SYSTEM

Parts that are too large for our automated blast system, or require manual blasting for any other reason, can be efficiently
handled by our batch blast system.

Maximum Part Size: 10' x 12' x 32'
Ideal for blasting large items or for small custom runs
Built-in reclaiming system captures blast media for reuse
Utilizes steel grit blast media

BATCH WASH SYSTEM

Like the Batch Blast System, the Batch Wash System is designed for cleaning oversize, short-run or urgent orders.

Maximum Part Size: 10' x 10' x 38'
Ideal for washing large items or for small custom runs
Utilizes a zinc phosphate wash to inhibit rust
